Welcome to Gratitude Gems, where I show a little appreciation for the good things in my life!
At the end of a Thanksgiving long weekend, I find I have a lot to be thankful for.
First, there’s in-laws. I’m incredibly lucky to have some great in-laws who were generous and welcoming from the moment I met them. They make a killer turkey dinner, even when only half of their family could make it! I struck gold not just in marrying my husband, but inheriting his parents as my own as well. Then there’s my sister-in-law’s parents who as so kind that, upon finding out that my Mom would be out of the country, they invited us to participate in their dinner too and who not only fed us with a full turkey dinner, but with the added bonus of a creamy shrimp something-or-other which was amazing and some homemade perogies! We got two Thanskgiving dinners this weekend all because of in-laws. I feel sorry for people who talk about having crappy in-laws because that certainly hasn’t been my experience. I am lucky indeed.
I’m also thankful for the little extras this weekend. I love getting extra time to hang out with my niece and nephew. I also love hanging out with the multiple family dogs; since my Mom is out of the country we’re looking after her dog so we’ve got an extra pup at our house right now which is just awesome. Plus today has afforded me some extra one-on-one time with my hubby, which is a great way to end a long weekend in my opinion. And then there’s the fact that it’s a long weekend and a short week of work coming up. Plus there’s been plenty of pumpkin pie of course!
It’s been a great weekend to take some time to recognize and be thankful for all we have in our lives and in this great country. Cheers!
