Welcome to Gratitude Gems, where I show a little appreciation for the good things in my life!
Today I got to bike to work because it still hasn’t snowed here in the city. What a treat! Most mornings lately I’ve chickened out and walked because I’m afraid it’ll snow while I’m at work and I don’t want to have to bike home in it, or worse, walk my bike home. But walking takes so. much. longer. and I’m inherently lazy.
It’s definitely almost winter because mornings are chillier and windier, so the less time I have to spend outside, the better! Well, because I biked this morning I was at work in less than 10 minutes – hooray! My face was barely chilled and the rest of me was nice and warm due to the whole pedaling thing. On my way I couldn’t help but mentally give thanks to Mother Nature for holding off longer than usual this year so that I could still enjoy this faster commute.
I’ll admit I’m looking forward to snow – mostly because it will cover up the ugly brown and dirty looking city now that most plant life has died. It also makes for a beautiful and serene atmosphere as it falls. But the whole “absence makes the heart grow fonder” thing totally applies in this case.
