Vacationing with My Mom

I had a hoot in Las Vegas with my Mom last week!  I couldn’t drink obviously, and because the Americans apparently don’t drink dark rum (go ahead, say that ten times fast), we couldn’t find any outside of the few bars we went into, so my Mom didn’t do much of that either; but that just goes to show you don’t have to be drunk to have a good time in Vegas!

Without further ado (and because things that happen in Vegas, and are captured on camera, definitely don’t stay in Vegas), here are some of the highlights!

Mom’s birthday brunch at Giada’s restaurant (in case you couldn’t tell… everything in this restaurant seemed to have “Giada” stamped on it – yes those are tiny Gs lining the top of the coffee cup and around the plate)!

Singing gondoliers inside the Venetian!

Our balcony on the 49th floor of the Cosmopolitan overlooked this awesome musical fountain in front of the Bellagio!

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill for a late lunch!

I’m a sucker for puns, especially considering the current Star Wars phenomenon, and at the M&Ms shop too!

Yes we rode in that!  Yes, we were in the front seats!  Yes, we flew over and landed down in the Grand Canyon!  Yes it was the best thing ever!!

Part of the Chandelier hanging over the bar of the same name in our hotel, the Cosmopolitan.

This Cirque du Soleil show really was a mystery (complete with a rather large middle-aged man dressed as a baby), but holy crow those acrobats are incredible!

The best chocolate fountain ever in the Bellagio.

I’m so glad I made “go on a trip with my Mom” one of my goals this year.  It was great to spend some quality one-on-one time and reconnect!

Now all there is to do is decide where we’re going next year!

  1. Way to go ladies! You definitely made the most of your time there and your smiles say it all.

  2. Sounds like the two of you had a fabulous and memorable time together! Glad you made it work – next year will have a few more (albeit happy) complications!!!

  3. We had so much fun — can’t wait for next year!
